Weekly Writing Challenge : Emily Dickinson Imitation

11 Sep

Never — Forget —

— I flew — High —

Soared above the Sky

Panic — detour — Terror

Where are — We landing —

— Or Are we Even landing — at All —

Love – I won’t be home —

I was – on my way – Although

A forced — Detour

I am Meeting — Eternity —

— Instead

  • With due respect to Ms. Emily Dickinson, I submit my lame attempt at imitating her. I’d have never dared to do this, had it not been for the Weekly Writing Challenge.

… Highlight a particular element of your favorite writer’s style, and incorporate it into a post of your own. Whether it’s their delightfully wry wit, the rhythmic insertion of repeated phrases, or lackadaisical sentence structure, become your favorite writer for a day (or an hour). If you go this route, try writing about what you’d normally discuss on in your blog: personal musings, your favorite artist, your sports team’s wondrous victory. The only catch is that you’ll need to discard your own style temporarily in honor of the wordsmiths who’ve inspired you…

  • To all Ms. Dickinson’s admirers ~ apologies.
  • To everyone else ~ NEVER FORGET 9/11.

I don’t think your attempt is lame… if anything, it’s brave. Good job! 🙂

She’s been THE inspiration for my wee-poetic self. I was dead scared to do the imitation but it’s there now.

Thank you back for stopping by.
